In 2015, Lyon-Lincoln Electric Cooperative's Board of Directors made the decision to invest in a solar project to provide information on production capabilities in our area. The board wanted a residential scaled solar project that would simulate the performance of similarly sized system installed in our area.
After researching our options Lyon-Lincoln chose to partner with TenK Solar, a Minnesota based solar company with experience designing and installing solar systems with electric cooperatives throughout the region.
The cooperative made the decision to go forward with a ground mounted 8.4 kW AC (11.2 kW DC) array. We also chose a design with reflectors to help take advantage of sunshine that may have otherwise been wasted.
All of the construction and assembly work was completed by Lyon-Lincoln employees to provide an opportunity for the employees gain first hand knowledge. This was key to the project as it allows our staff an understanding of the whole process and and expertise for cooperative members to use when considering a similar project.
